Climate on crash course to destruction due to Zara flights

Always faster, and always more polluting! Fast-fashion groups like Zara rely on short-lived fashion trends, swapping their collections on a weekly basis. In order to get them to the stores as quickly as possible, they fly hundreds of thousands of tons of garments around the world. This is a trend that is causing huge damage to our climate, because transporting fashion by plane is around 14 times more harmful to the climate than the main method of transportation by sea.

The fast-fashion label Zara has taken this trend to the extreme. According to our research, the Spanish parent company Inditex dispatches 32 cargo planes every week at Zaragoza alone, each carrying up to 100 tonnes of garments on board. That's more than 1,600 flights a year.

Zara likes to parade its green, sustainable credentials. But every day, Zara is adding to over-consumption and climate change with its deliveries by plane.

With this petition, we are calling on Zara & Co. to abandon this climate-damaging airborne fashion.
