The ‘Public Eye Investigation Award’: prestigious selection panel looking for explosive research projects

On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, Public Eye is launching its Investigation Award which offers CHF 20,000 to support one or two investigative projects directly covering the practices of Swiss actors in developing or emerging countries. The selection panel will include the renowned journalists Fabrice Arfi (Mediapart), Will Fitzgibbon (International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, ICIJ), Anya Schiffrin (Columbia University), and Oliver Zihlmann (Tamedia).

In 2018, Public Eye will celebrate its 50th anniversary and to do so it will be awarding CHF 20,000 to support one or two independent investigative projects. The project must relate to abusive practices of Swiss companies, individuals or political institutions in direct connection with their activities in a developing or emerging country. It must shed new light on human rights violations, environmental damage, corruption cases and illicit financial activities.

Participation is open to professional researchers from media, civil society, or scientific institutions. Applications must be submitted by 31 January 2018. Entries will be assessed by a judging panel composed of three Public Eye staff alongside Oliver Zihlmann, one of the Swiss authors of the Paradise Papers; Anya Schiffrin, Professor of Journalism at Columbia University in New York; Will Fitzgibbon, US-based author at ICIJ; and Fabrice Arfi, Head of investigation for the French online magazine Mediapart.
