Grain shortages due to the Russian invasion combined with rising energy costs have led to soaring food prices, posing a threat to food security for the global south. Switzerland, as the world’s largest grain trading hub, and Swiss traders alike, are struggling to live up to their responsibilities, ensuring they respect human rights without undermining the sanctions against the Putin regime.

As the largest commodity trading hub in the world, Switzerland is once again in the spotlight. In view of the war in Ukraine, we call on the Federal Council, Parliament, and commodity traders to live up to their responsibilities immediately.
