SLAPP: Silencing the Public

Zürich, 5. Mai 2022

Anlässlich einer neuen EU-Initiative gegen missbräuchliche Gerichtsklagen geht eine Konferenz in Zürich der Frage nach, wie sich SLAPPs («Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation») auf Medienschaffende und NGOs in der Schweiz auswirken und wie die Politik reagieren sollte.

Mit einer Konferenz unter dem Titel «Silencing the Public. SLAPPs and their impact on journalism and civil society» lanciert der Bruno Manser Fonds in Kooperation mit CASE (Coalition against SLAPPS in Europe) am 5. Mai 2022 in Zürich eine Debatte über die Bedrohung von Meinungs- und Pressefreiheit durch sogenannte SLAPP-Klagen.

An der Tagung werden u.a. Reporters sans frontières, das Europäische Zentrum für Presse- und Medienfreiheit, das Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), Gotham City, Sarawak Report, Greenpeace, HEKS und Public Eye vertreten sein.
